Studio expands its physical media catalog and transmedia strategy as it prepares for the October premiere of its sixth feature, Pumpkin Patch: MOONBREAKER

LOS ANGELES, CA—September 2, 2026—Magic Engine Studios today announced the Blu-ray releases of Astro Cats: The Movie and The Yellow Knight, expanding the studio’s physical media catalog as it prepares to launch its new online merchandise store in mid-September. The expansion comes ahead of the October premiere of the studio’s sixth feature release, Pumpkin Patch: MOONBREAKER, the sequel to the breakout 2025 online hit Pumpkin Patch.

The new store will bring together products from across the Magic Engine-managed entertainment catalog through the studio’s licensing relationship with K13 Cinematics, creating a central destination for physical releases, publishing, music, merchandise, and collectibles built around its growing slate of original movies, characters, and worlds.

The two new releases expand an existing Blu-ray collection that already includes Pumpkin Patch and Red Nose 2: FULL METAL RULDOFF, bringing four Magic Engine-managed features to physical media.

Astro Cats: The Movie, Magic Engine’s recently released 93-minute sci-fi comedy, follows an unlikely crew of spacefaring cats on an interstellar adventure combining comedy, action, and cosmic absurdity. The Yellow Knight is the sequel to Magic Engine’s first feature release, 2025’s The Cheep, continuing the story of Simon Cottontail, the Easter Bunny who moonlights as a masked vigilante defending the streets of Easter City.

In advance of the Magic Engine store launch, both new Blu-ray releases are available for purchase through K13 Media.

The growing Blu-ray catalog is only one part of Magic Engine’s plans for the new store.

Physical media will be joined by limited-edition movie soundtracks on vinyl, cassette, and CD, bringing the music behind Magic Engine-managed properties out of streaming and into collectible formats. The store will also feature theatrical-style posters, T-shirts and apparel, mugs, collectible trading cards, and other movie merchandise, with select characters planned for limited-edition action figures.

Magic Engine also plans to extend the store into publishing through its K13 Cinematics licensing relationship, offering novels and eBooks, comics, and graphic novels connected to the growing entertainment catalog.

Together, the products form part of a broader transmedia strategy designed to extend individual properties beyond their initial movie releases and create multiple ways for audiences to engage with the characters and worlds behind them.

“We’re already seeing an audience for these movies extend beyond the screen, particularly through Blu-ray sales,” said Debbi Berlin, CEO of Magic Engine Studios. “Physical media continues to have a strong collector market, and that gives us an opportunity to build outward from demand we’re already seeing. Our transmedia strategy is to put that infrastructure in place now, while the catalog is growing, so each property can move naturally into publishing, music, collectibles, and other consumer products. We want to be ahead of that opportunity rather than chasing it later.”

“I'm designing these movies as worlds, so it makes sense that they should exist beyond the screen,” said Brian James Gage, Chief Creative Officer and Generative Director of Magic Engine Studios. “There’s something different about holding a movie, putting its soundtrack on a turntable, hanging the poster on your wall, reading a story that takes you deeper into that universe, or having some ridiculous character from that world sitting on your desk. Digital distribution gives these movies reach. Physical media and collectibles give audiences something from those worlds they can actually keep.”

The merchandise expansion arrives during an active period for Magic Engine Studios.

Following the August release of Astro Cats: The Movie, the fifth feature produced through the Magic Engine production pipeline, the studio is already preparing for its next feature premiere. Pumpkin Patch: MOONBREAKER is scheduled for mid-October and will become the sixth feature produced through the pipeline in less than 15 months.

The movie continues the universe introduced in 2025’s Pumpkin Patch, dramatically expanding the scope of the franchise while bringing back characters from the original movie.

The growing catalog also gives Magic Engine an increasingly important foundation as it expands into consumer products: a library of original entertainment properties.

Rather than building merchandise around a single release, the studio plans to continually introduce products from both existing and upcoming titles. As new movies enter the catalog, their physical media, soundtracks, publishing, artwork, characters, and collectibles can join earlier properties in the same expanding storefront.

That strategy reflects Magic Engine’s broader approach to original entertainment: treating individual movies not simply as releases, but as intellectual properties capable of continuing across streaming and digital distribution, physical media, publishing, music, merchandise, collectibles, and future productions.

The Magic Engine merchandise store is targeted to launch in mid-September 2026, with the expanding Blu-ray collection among its initial offerings and additional products and limited-edition releases planned as the catalog grows.

Pumpkin Patch: MOONBREAKER is scheduled to premiere in mid-October 2026.
