The sequel marks the sixth feature produced through the Magic Engine pipeline in less than 15 months, with a seventh movie already in development for December
LOS ANGELES — August 19, 2026 — Magic Engine Studios today announced Pumpkin Patch: Moonbreaker, the direct sequel to 2025’s Pumpkin Patch, with a release planned for mid-October 2026. An exact release date and additional distribution details will be announced soon.
Moonbreaker marks the sixth original feature produced through the Magic Engine pipeline in less than 15 months, continuing the company’s strategy of building original intellectual property, recurring franchises, and a growing commercial catalog through a streamlined generative production model.
Brian James Gage will again create and direct the movie, with Magic Engine Studios CEO Debbi Berlin leading marketing, fundraising, and commercial strategy.
“Moonbreaker is about pushing the model further,” said Gage. “The goal isn’t speed for speed’s sake. It’s eliminating the bottlenecks that can slow traditional production while remaining true to the cinema that came before us and maintaining the highest possible production standards. We’re not cutting corners. We’re smashing bottlenecks. Six features in less than 15 months is what becomes possible when you do that.”
The announcement comes as Magic Engine expands the business infrastructure surrounding its production pipeline, including financing, marketing, distribution, and catalog development. Executive Producer opportunities for Pumpkin Patch: Moonbreaker are expected to open shortly, providing partners an opportunity to participate in the next stage of the company’s growing slate.
“What excites me is that we’re building the business around finished movies and original IP, not simply the promise of what this technology may eventually be able to do or movies that may or may not get made,” said Berlin. “Brian has built a production pipeline capable of delivering feature-length movies consistently. My focus is on building the commercial infrastructure around that output, expanding distribution, developing financing relationships and creating opportunities for partners who want to grow with the slate.”
Magic Engine currently has an additional original feature in development for a December 2026 release, which would bring the pipeline’s output to seven feature movies before the close of the year.
The expanding slate comes alongside growing distribution for the company’s existing catalog.
The original Pumpkin Patch (Oct 2025) is now available as a full-length video release on Spotify, while its original soundtrack is available on Spotify and Apple Music. Magic Engine is continuing to expand both its movie and soundtrack catalogs across digital platforms as it develops additional outlets for its original properties.
Magic Engine titles have also secured FAST and OTT distribution through Fawesome and OTT Studio. Fawesome now reaches more than 75 million U.S. households, while OTT Studio operates a portfolio of 20 ad-supported streaming brands and 35 FAST channels, with more than 15 million organic installs across its network. Additional distribution expansion for the Magic Engine catalog is currently in development.
For Magic Engine, the objective is not simply to demonstrate that generative technology can produce a feature movie. The company is building a repeatable studio pipeline capable of moving original properties from development through feature production, marketing and distribution while maintaining an active release slate.
Rather than treating generative entertainment primarily as a technology demonstration, Magic Engine’s strategy centers on the same fundamental assets that have driven the movie business for generations: movies, characters, franchises and the intellectual property behind them.
“We’re proving this model can function as a prolific studio in real time,” said Gage. “That’s the standard.”
Magic Engine Studios is currently the only generative studio producing original feature-length movies at this scale, with six features produced through its single-creator pipeline in less than 15 months. While much of the emerging generative entertainment industry remains focused on short-form content, demonstrations, hybrid productions and first-feature development, Magic Engine has built its model around sustained feature-length production, recurring franchises and a continuing commercial release slate. With Moonbreaker, the company is moving beyond proving that generative technology can produce a feature movie and demonstrating that it can support the ongoing production demands of an independent movie studio.
“Every completed movie makes the company stronger,” Berlin said. “It gives us another piece of IP to market, another title to distribute, another opportunity to reach an audience and another asset that remains in the catalog. The production model gives us the ability to build that library at a scale that would have been extremely difficult for an independent company using a conventional production structure.”
Pumpkin Patch: Moonbreaker returns to the universe introduced in 2025’s Pumpkin Patch while dramatically expanding the scope of the franchise. The sequel takes the story beyond Planet Ween and into space under the campaign tagline: BAD MOON ON THE RISE.
The movie is slated for release in mid-October 2026 ahead of Halloween. The official release date, trailer, distribution plans and details regarding upcoming Executive Producer opportunities will be announced soon.
