Placement brings the 93-minute original feature to Spotify Podcasts as Magic Engine continues pushing generative movies across streaming platforms to global audiences

LOS ANGELES, CA — September 22, 2026 — Magic Engine Studios today announced the release of Astro Cats: The Movie on Spotify Podcasts, expanding a distribution strategy designed to put original generative movies in front of audiences wherever they already consume entertainment. The 93-minute sci-fi comedy, created by Brian James Gage, is now available on Spotify, marking another significant point of entry for generative feature movies.

Spotify reported 777 million monthly active users worldwide in Q2 2026, making its expanding video ecosystem one of the largest potential entertainment audiences in the world.

“Distribution is changing, and audiences are discovering entertainment in places that wouldn’t traditionally have been considered movie platforms,” said Debbi Berlin, CEO and co-founder of Magic Engine Studios. “Making our generative movies available to audiences on Spotify represents exactly the kind of forward-looking opportunity we want to pursue as we continue expanding the reach of our work.”

The Spotify release follows a growing series of distribution placements for the companies’ generative catalog.

Pumpkin Patch and Red Nose 2: FULL METAL RULDOFF are currently available through Fawesome, part of the Future Today streaming ecosystem. Future Today reports that Fawesome and HappyKids together now reach more than 75 million U.S. households.

Red Nose 2: FULL METAL RULDOFF has also expanded through OTT Studio, whose streaming ecosystem currently reports more than 25 million organic CTV installs, 20+ FAST channels, and distribution across more than 20 platforms.

For Magic Engine, the strategy is not exclusivity. It is penetration.

The company is deliberately pursuing multiple distribution paths rather than waiting for a single platform or gatekeeper to determine where generative entertainment belongs. Streaming, FAST and AVOD platforms, video podcasts, physical media, soundtracks, merchandise, and direct distribution are all part of an evolving model designed to find audiences through multiple points of entry.

That strategy is also producing a clearer picture of the audience for generative entertainment.

While opposition to generative production remains vocal in some diminishing online communities, Magic Engine says its own experience through growing channels via merchandise sales, physical media, distribution partnerships, and audience engagement increasingly points toward a larger group of viewers who are less concerned with the production technology than with a simpler question: Is it entertaining? Those viewers are the focus.

Rather than devoting energy to winning over entrenched opponents of the technology, Magic Engine is concentrating on making increasingly ambitious original movies and getting them in front of as many people as possible. The company believes that as generative production becomes more established, attention will increasingly shift away from the tools themselves and toward the individual artists, original voices, characters, and worlds emerging through them.

Generative production is also opening opportunities for creators whose work historically faced financial and institutional barriers to reaching the screen. Magic Engine intends to continue exploring that territory unapologetically while allowing audiences to decide what succeeds.

Astro Cats: The Movie previously premiered through AIMV Saturday Night Movies via Alchemy Stream on Apple TV and Roku and is also available through physical media and soundtrack distribution. Additional streaming placements for the feature are currently being developed.

Magic Engine and its partners will continue expanding the movie across additional platforms as those deals are refined.

The company’s approach is simple: make the movies, solve the distribution problems, find the audience, and keep moving.
