LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Aug 11, 2026 — Magic Engine Studios announced today the release of their fifth full-length feature film, ASTRO CATS: THE MOVIE, a sci-fi gonzo space comedy, which will premiere on Alchemy Streaming via Apple TV and Roku on August 15th, 7PM, PST.
This milestone represents the culmination of approximately one year of production for all five-features and demonstrates the commercial viability of the Magic Engine production pipeline—a repeatable methodology for producing original entertainment through the orchestration of commercially available generative AI technologies and traditional filmmaking disciplines.
"People often assume generative filmmaking is simply typing a prompt and letting a computer make a movie," said Brian James Gage. "That's not what we've built. The Magic Engine production pipeline is a filmmaking methodology. It combines commercially available generative AI technologies with traditional creative disciplines and constant human direction to produce original feature entertainment. The Magic Engine production pipeline integrates writing, production design, cinematography, editorial, visual effects, voice performance, music composition, sound design, quality control, and post-production under a single creative vision, enabling accelerated production while preserving creative authorship throughout the filmmaking process.
Over the past year, Magic Engine Studios completed and released five original feature movies through their proprietary production methodology, helmed exclusively by Gage. Collectively, the productions represent 349 minutes of original feature entertainment. They also span multiple genres, including science fiction, fantasy, action, holiday entertainment, comedy, and family programming, illustrating the flexibility of the Magic Engine production pipeline across a broad range of storytelling styles.
